i've reworked the rims on the honda CRX. from orange rims before now has the red-lipped rims. got tireds of the orange rims, and this color looks much cooler

Also some more updats on the 720. its almost done, but final pictures will be after the model competition (IPMS nationals). some stuff done:

tool box. with parts boxes

fender mirrors and new intercooler. stance finalized

interior received some goodies too. changed the instrument panel to a 300zx one.

added also a modern radio, an equalizer and a digital data logger unit.

another feature modeller today is an avid fan of lancer evolutions, and a local also. one of the best team orange mitsu lancers ever done in scale, and the best part is that the whole thing is scratchbuilt, even the engine, and all sponsor logos and design are handpainted rather than decaled. watch out for his full detail full open nissan GTR. definitely one of the best gtr build out there today.

honda city turbo bulldog update!

here is a quick update on my honda city turbo. can't really do much painting as the weather is crazy hot-rain-hot-cold-rain over here.

i managed to get most of the interior done, all it needs now are some seatbelts and i'm set to put it together. i'd say this is around 80% done. :D

interior changes were minimal, just changed the stock seats to some recaro enjoys and steering wheel from a tamiya honda S2000.

also these wonderful boxes came from a good friend, and you guys might want to check his site, it has great dioramas for 1/24 models.

started as a willys jeep kit, but hten started to modify it. i believe more than 50% of this build is scratchbuilt. hats off to a great one of a kind build. :D

My featured modeller now is Tareque or Taz from the UK. He is one talented modeller and he has some real great builds, two of which are featured here.

One is a full custom detailed and scrathcbuilt Fortune Veilside RX7 (of the the movie Tokyo Drift fame). the scrathbuilt body kit is nuts.

The other is a Nissan 180sx drift car, with a fully detailed gutted interior and engine bay, from a pig nose to a kouki conversion. Overall its one if not the best 180sx builds ou there.

this is from Raees, who was also featured here a while back. And his GTR is a very unusual one.

Not only does it have the very nice Jet Model Amuse Transkit, it has a very unusual design, a carbon-camouflage design! very creative and and very unusual for a supercar. But it jsut works well that i really love it.

terribly sorry for not having updates recently. these past month has been terribly hectic, and stressful, projects in the office left and right plus training. My 1:1 car needed much help too as i just blew the engine and had it fixed by purchasing a new cylinder head. and on top of that i got food poisoning a few weeks back. agonizing pain. super stressful.

well i think things are going back to normal. life here in the office gradually settling once again, my 1:1 is running like new, and i just came back from a two day vacation. :D

a little update on my projects:
-the little toyota s800 is now 90% done, just need to fit the lenses
-honda city still a long way to go
-finally found a honda civic EK kit, will have it on my hands soon
-and a set of BBS LMs that i will be getting tomorrow from a fellow modeller.

featured scale modeller: Karl Briffa aka Briffak from Malta

This is another feature of another fellow modeller. Karl is one of the cleanest JDM OEM model kit builders i know. His builds are absolutely fantastic, mostly OEM looking builds with just a change in wheels and ride height. Karl aka Briffak s one of the cleanest in the industry, interior and exterior wise.

My favorite build from karl is the Evo 6 lancer.

"Hi, I've been into the car modelling world since the age of 15 where I used to add small paint touches to 1:24 scale diecasts to make them more realistic. After these, I moved to the larger 1:18 scale where I used to buy second-hand diecasts so that I could customize them to my liking. I'm starting a new segment on my blog, i won't be featuring just my models, but also models from around the globe.

My first feature modeller is Raees Amien from Cape Town, South Africa. Raees is more known in the scale modelling forums as Dadaman. Aside doing modellers, Raees is also part of the cool online magazine Urban Racer. (click the word or find it in the cool links section).

"I've been buildling models since i was 8. In the last few years i've been building cars and customizing them. I've started doing custom parts as i want to try and make my own body kits soon. nissan fairlady 300ZR, '90s wangan style

i've been watching again my collection of shuto kousuko battle movies in DVD, and i was inspired to finally finish this z31(?) fairlady 300ZR

for those who doesnt know, "shuto kousuko" or "wangan expressway" / "freeway speedway" movies were made in the 90s to early 2000s, which also stars keiichi tsuchiya from part 2-6. its mostly about wangan and some touge racing, and the atmosphere is distinctly 90s. the actors and clothing are definitely cheesy, but i like the style of the cars from that era.

i built the body style in a way that it should be back in the 90s, bright color, with lotsa stickers to attract some challengers on the wangan. most cars in the movie have stockish interiors, so i just left it as is. built mostly stock except for rim change and lowering.

its just a quickie build so it has some flaws, and i need to build faster so the wife allows me to acquire new kits.

i think im going to create a stable of 90s style wangan and touge cars

even the boro skyline received some fresh updates. seems the owner of the hako is enjoying himself that he bought new wheels, a race seat and a rollcage. and he also got a new spoiler. and some straps to hold the oil cooler in place. :D but he still doesnt care about the body.

This is for a group build that we have. the theme is JDM nostalgic cars, 1989 or lower.

The kit is an old tamiya Honda City kit, and you can see it is already yellowing. got this cheap on a garage sale, it was even vacuum sealed.

i chose this one so i can have my hot hatch honda collection grow more. (just needing an EK kit....)

color will be white with white volk racing artisans. the wheel IMHO perfectly suits the car.

Honda Civic (E-AT) S rebuild

this is a rebuild again of the 3rd gen civic that was handed down to me a couple of years back.

finished this in two days, coz i only changed wheels and resprayed the body with a new color.

i also built NEW headlights, and crossbars for a roof rack, and a new hood bra. wheels are Impul super aero . why is there only a sinlge wiper is because there is a crack in the middle of the windshield. the wiper covers it really good.

wheels are permanently stuck as this kit is missing a lot of suspension parts.

there are still a lot of mistakes in the build but i couldn't care less. it was a fun quickie build to get me up to modelling again.

and the color was a MISTAKE. hahahahhaha. i wanted to paint it yellow but it came out green gold. dunno what happened but i liked the color.

i'm on a two week vacation break, and this gave me time to work on my models.

my project CRX now has received some color, its PBC honda blue, 5 coats. it has been polished, but ill be polishing it more sometime soon. already attached all the light lenses, and test fitted the rims. painted the weather strips and moulding black, and i will add the orange stripe soon.

1/24 Nissan Laurel C33 Drift Pig

this is a memorable build. one of the first kits i built when i got back to scale modelling 3 years ago. and i got a special glass trophy for the first online group build of IPMS philippines.

this build is to represent a grassroots-style weekend-budget drift car. lets just say the owner crashed the front right fender and hood and replaced it with some parts from a salvage yard. and that front chin is so low that it usually scrapes the rumble strips when hitting the corner apexes. since its a budget drift car, unnecessary expenses are avoided. the result? Duct tape the parts to hold them!!!

owner also sourced some OEM R34 and R33 skyline rims. the R34 rims are uber wide so fender flares were necessary.

oh, that smoking exhaust means he just blew an oil seal.

1/24 Boro Nissan skyline KPGC10 GTR by fujimi

This is one of my favorite builds, a Boro-boro build. what is a Boro car? a Boro is basically a japanese equivalent of a rat rod. rusting body, broken panels, beat up body with an immaculate and perfect running engine and drivetrain. Boro are different from "missile cars", whereareas missiles are practice cars for drift. Boro can be in conjunction with the bosozoku culture, and with the shakotan, or a mix of all four. most Boro cars are usually 80s and older.

It is unlikely to find a Boro KPGC10 as these skylines are rare classics. i wanted to do it, as most kpgc builds i see are the smooth and shiny versions. i wanted to be different. this is a two week build and i had a lot of fun building this. this is also a practice on weathering techniques.

I wanted to have a rotting dirty body, with rust holes and dents. and make it look like the owner took the hood and door from a white skyline, so they have mismatched panels. also there are bare metal panels where the owner probably covered some holes. there is also an exposed oil cooler for the engine oil to..duh..cool down while running at the track.

i will soon be opening the hood of this model and scratchbuild an enginebay with RB26DETT transplant. :D

WIP: Honda CRX Si by fujimi

I'd like to build several models at once, just to keep the ball rolling. If i concentrate on just one, i'll never get anything finish in my lifetime. hahahahha

this is a fairly new build. Started this build a few months back, for an online scale model contest in spc.org.uk. It is a team contest, and each team much follow a certain theme. Our theme is JDM street legal, so cars must be JDM clean, nice rims and no fancy bodykits. clean and simple is the way to go.

so here is the current progress, suspension lowered to the lowest possible height. lowering involves a lot of cutting and surgery and is a pain to do.

here are some wheel choices...(i'll have a blog later about all the rims that i have in my collection)

stance check. Of course, proper fit and stance is essential to a car (real or scale). rear has a flush fit. perfect.

how much the suspension has moved inwards to lower the car

stance check again. i know achieved the ride height i want. now all is left is to properly fit the wheel/tire that it will be flush with the body.

overall stance. the front wheels need refinement. wheels are not final yet.

AND NOW to the interior. the interior is pretty much 99% complete.

color is in black and grey. stock seat for the passenger, bucket seat for the driver.

dash goodies include aluminum shift knob, vtec/af controller(silver thingie on top of center dash vents) defi gauge, sport wheel and an ipod

rear of the bucket seat and detail of the harness

hopefully this christmas break i may be able to finish this honda, and spray some color on the TE27 and Estima

This is build currently my pride and joy. A 1975 Toyota Corolla Levin TE27. Why the TE27? because i drive a KE35/TE37 corolla. and the 3 series corolla doesn't exist in any plastic scale, only in tomica limited vintage diecast.

this is a fairly detailed build, originally the kit didn't have opened hood and trunk. i took the liberty of opening the hood and trunk.

Then scratchbuilding the engine bay from cellular phone cards. wheel choice is also important as i want this to be almost perfect. the kit included 2TG is just horrible. A good modeller friend of mine named jimmy aka crewdawg sent me a resin copy of his scratchbuilt 2TG for use.

The interior, i decided to ditch the original seats and replace it with recaro enjoys. of course, the driver must have 4 point seatbelts for those track and autocrossing days. :D

this build is more than two years old already and is still a WIP. I have another kit at home as a spare kit.

a lot has been done here, from scratchbuilding the entire engine bay and trunk, fabricating new door panels, and sourcing bits and goodies for this. even the exhaust and diff have been removed and replaced with new items.

WIP: 1/24 Toyota Estima by Aoshima

this is the first WIP (work-in-progress) topic, a van. why a van? because we have the same van in 1:1. I'm gonna try to replicate our 1:1 van, but with minor modifications, like lowering it a little (just a little). Also, rims are some 17"...uh...rims :D. i just changed the tires to lower profile ones. It is already in primer, but still needs dome sanding to make it smooth. color witll be two tone grey/dark grey.

1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 GTR by Fujimi

This is Fujimi's Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R from the Fujimi 345 series of kits. the 345 kits are kits with additional wide body fender flares with ultra wide rims, thus 345 series (345mm tire width in real life).

this is one of my longer term projects. took at least 18 months before completion. And most of the work was done on the body, attaching the horribly fitting Fujimi parts, puttying, sanding, and more puttying and sanding, and endless puttying and sanding. I actually used to R32 kits for this build. the second kit is where i got the stripped interior for a time attack-ish look. i know it lacks the large rear wing, but hey, its my model. and i like wingless skylines.

The result is what you see here. 18 moths of build time. and i am satisfied with the result.

1/24 Honda Civic EG6 by Hasegawa

this is a Honda Civic EG6 from hasegawa. Built this with some modifications.

The kit itself is very nice to build, although there are some minor inaccuracies with it. This is one of those "i got to have it kits" as the kit itself is pretty hard to come by. Expect to pay a minimum of at least 1500Php upwards for a kit. I got this from a kit sale for only 1000Php with a lot of free goodies and kits.

Now to the model. As i said this was built with some modifications. The modifications are as follows:

Welcome to Plasticated Ricers.

This is a Blog about my hobby, building scale models. I have a lot of scale cars, die-casts, plastics, resin in deifferent scales and brands. Tho I'm gonna focus more on my plastic scale models with a bit of diecast or hotwheels here and there.

The scale cars i would mostly be featuring are cars i'd like to own in real life and how i would customize them in my own way. Although there will be a bit of bosozoku or something not of the norm.
